LOCAL CANDIDATES ADDRESS MCYR

At the last meeting of the MCYR, held June 23, local candidates for the Marion County School Board and Republican State Committeewoman spoke to the MCYR about their campaigns. Speakers included Steve Hering, candidate for School Board District 2; Bobby James, candidate for School Board District 3; and Marguerite Cavanaugh and Pat Santospirito, candidates for Republican State Committeewoman. A representative from the Ric Keller for US House District 8 campaign was also present and spoke briefly.

SERVICE PROJECT EXTENDED ANOTHER MONTH

The MCYR is collecting diapers and wipes to donate to the Alpha Center for Women, a local organization that gives counsel and support to young women so that they will NOT abort their babies. Any donations of diapers sizes 4, 5, or 6, and/or packages of baby wipes will be appreciated, and can be brought to Republican Headquarters at the next MCYR meeting, to be held July 28.

MCYR DELEGATES ATTEND FFYR ANNUAL CONVENTION

The Annual Convention of the Florida Federation of Young Republicans was held June 13 - 14 at the Wyndham Riverwalk in Jacksonville. Five delegates from the MCYR attended the event, which included the election of new FFYR officers and the yearly voting on various aspects of the FFYR Platform. Lunch and dinner speakers included senators and authors from around the state. Matt McClain, MCYR Vice-President, was elected to be the Chairman for our region of YR clubs, and the MCYR won the Outstanding Web Site Award for the third year in a row.
